Alicia Burrell, age 91, a Mt. Prospect resident of over 50 years, passed away Sunday, July 3, 2016. Beloved wife of the late Dr. Elliott J. Burrell. Loving mother of Patricia (Robert) Burrell-Standley, Michael (Kimberly) Burrell, Marcia (Ed) Seggelke, and Steve (Angela) Burrell; cherished grandmother of Kristin, Scott (Tiffany), Mike (Sonya), Jennie (Mike), Greg (Tracy), Dan (Kathy), Liz (Tom), and Christopher; loving great-grandmother of Emma, William, Ava, Tanner, Zoey, Mia, Paige, Easton, and Cassie; fond sister of Natalie (Toth) Nowicki of Denver.
Alicia was born December 28, 1924 in Poland. Alicia and Elliott were married in South Bend, IN in 1950.
She worked many years at Teledyne Post and GTE, in Des Plaines, and as a CNA at The Lutheran Home for the Aged in Arlington Heights for 25 years, living out her last 5 years there.
She was highly involved at St. Raymond de Penafort Church, in Mt. Prospect where she was a member for 53 years. She completed the Archdiocesan Lay Ministry Formation and served on both the Human Concerns Commission and the Adult Formation Commission. She served as a Eucharistic minister, and was a minister of care at Northwest Community Hospital for 25 years. Alicia was instrumental in establishing the parish library, and was very active in bible study.
Alicia was devoted to her church and family, she enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family. Alicia enjoyed being outdoors even in her retirement years. She will be dearly missed.
Visitation Tuesday, July 12, from 9:30 AM until Mass 10:30 AM at St Raymond de Penafort Church, Main St. (Rt. 83) at Lincoln St. Mt Prospect.
Interment All Saints Cemetery.
